Location
The 42 Sea Ray is a great looking, stylish boat with large hull side windows and a large windshield and forward facing radar arch. Headquarters II has a nice shine on the white gel coat and on the exterior pewter gel coat. The gunwales are fairly wide, the bow rail is a good height, making walking to the bow easy and comfortable. Sea Ray located stainless steel grab rails that are conveniently located down the hull sides. Up on the bow is a working ACL remote bow light, Lofrans windlass with foot controls. The anchor locker has a wash down. On the deck is a hatch over the owner’s stateroom and the windshield has a privacy curtain. Aft is the cockpit with cockpit gate, a transom seat with storage under it, and back rest. You will get some protection from the sun and the rain from the flybridge overhang. In 2017 the owners installed a new Nova Kool fridge. The cockpit sole has a carpet and through the cockpit sole is access to the engine room. The entire cockpit is protected by a three-piece canvas drop curtain that was installed new in 2017. From the cockpit is an easy climb to the bridge up the Sea Ray molded fiberglass steps.
On the Transom is large transom storage. The current owners installed a second shore power cord on a reel for traveling and a water wash down hose on an electric reel, also for when traveling. So when you leave your slip, the dockside water hose and shore power hose can stay on the dock and you can carry spares with you in the transom storage.
The 44 also has a large submersible lift with remote. The lift was rebuilt with new bushings, hardware, hydraulic hoses, the frame was soda blasted and repainted from the waterline down in 2017.

Access the clean engine room through the cockpit sole. Headquarters II is powered with twin 6CTA 8.3M diesel inboard Cummins engines; the 1,000-hour service was completed in 2017. Each Cummins is coupled up to a ZF transmission with dripless shafts that are coupled up to 2“ shafts with Nibral 4-blade props. There are six batteries that are easy to get to, serviced and replaced when needed. The 42 has a clean Onan 9kW Generator in a sound shield that is pretty easy to get to, with 2,617 hours. You will see she has a reverse oil change system.
*NOTE – The port Cummins was overhauled in 2015 – two years prior to the current owner owning the vessel. In 2015 it was found that #2 cylinder dropped a valve seat, and after further checking, found that 5 other cylinders had scratches in liners from the overheating. The 42 was surveyed by a reputable diesel surveyor when the current owner purchased her. The diesel survey was good and oil samples were also good.
