2009 Alerion 38′
Classic 2009 Alerion Express 38
The beauty and inspiration of the Alerion Express 38 comes from renowned yacht designer Nathanael Herreshoff dating back to 1912. Fast forward over a century and she represents the highest form of the modern classic daysailer. With her gorgeous classic lines and spacious, secure cockpit, she is sure to please. What about performance? Thanks to her high sail area/displacement ratio and modest wetted surface, performance is better than good. She’ll turn on a dime with excellent responsiveness to the wheel.
The 38’s sail plan combines the power of a tall carbon mast and large roach mainsail with the ease of a small self-tacking jib. This configuration offers a superb blend with simple, easy sail tending into one package. With all lines led aft to port and starboard electric Harken winches the helmsman can tend all the sail controls from the wheel, leaving the crew to enjoy wind, water and cocktails!
Belowdecks, she offers a beautifully finished, classic Herreshoff interior complete with a teak and holly sole, inviting and comfortable for overnighting. In the saloon, the starboard settee measures 5′ 4″ long and the port settee is 6′ 5″, giving the boat two decent sea berths.
Built by Pearson, her construction utilizes the SCRIMP process which combines the advantages of vacuum-bagging and high glass-to-resin ratios of about 70:30 for stiff, lightweight laminates.
