Two requirements of the 42 Mk II according to Gerry Douglas, designer, “were that the shape have lots of volume but still be slippery.” With a 3-cabin, 2 head layout and European-influenced cockpit and rounded stern, ILEX is comfortable at sea or at rest. She offers good natural light and ventilation, storage space and a thoughtful layout. A/C and the popular Pullman master stateroom are additional features. Lines are led aft to the cockpit which has a canvas dodger, bimini and filler piece including covers for the isinglass. Furling jib and Dutchman system on the main make shorthanded sailing easy. The YANMAR 54 hp engine provides power to spare.
