Trillium III is a fantastic example of Corsair Marine’s F-31 Ultimate Cruiser trimaran. She has been well maintained and there’s nothing else like her on the market. The F-31 features comfortable accommodations, a spacious cockpit, tremendous deck space and standing headroom below. The performance-oriented sail plan provides the experienced sailor with exhilarating performance yet is manageable enough that the boat can easily be handled.
The chief design hallmarks of the Corsair designs are trailerability, shoal draft and speed:
Trailerability: Everything about the design of the F-31 was done with ease of trailering and rigging foremost in mind. Easy over-the-road transport means that your cruising grounds are no longer limited by how far you can sail there and back. The folded beam of 8’ 2” is street legal (check local laws) and the height on trailer is 11.5’. Now you can trailer the boat, rig in a reasonable amount of time and sail new areas. The trailer is also great for winter storage, eliminating the need for jack stands or a cradle. The folding system also allows the boat to be kept in a standard boat dock slip or lift during the season. The mast can be raised while the boat is in the water, without external assistance like a crane or gin pole.
Shoal Draft: The F-31 only draws 16″ with the daggerboard and rudder retracted so you can sail where deeper draft sailboats can’t sail. You can beach the boat as well as take advantage of skinny water gunkholing ports.
Speed: The F-31 will easily exceed hull speed and achieve speeds in the mid-teens which greatly expands your cruising range and daysailing enjoyment. The generous 600SF sail area, the rotating aluminum mast and the Dyneema rigging (which reduces weight aloft) all combine to provide excellent sailing performance.
